The Israeli reserve driver will be able to resume service this weekend; in fact, he will once again drive the British driver George Russell’s car this Friday during the free practice 1. He had already participated in the end-of-season tests in Abu Dhabi in 2019 and also in a free practice session during the Spanish race weekend. Roy Nissany is among the reserve and development drivers of the Grove-based team alongside Jack Aitken, Dan Ticktum, and Jamie Chadwick.

For now, the Israeli driver is trying to prove himself with the Trident team in F2, the gateway to Formula 1. He is currently in 17th place in the Formula 2 driver championship and comes off a rather successful race weekend in Belgium. Securing a fine 8th place in the first race and leading in the second, he could have brought home more points if he hadn’t been hit by Dan Ticktum, Williams development driver.

Roy Nissany can rely on the support of his national sponsors to facilitate his access to Formula 1. His single-seater career is largely funded by Canadian billionaire Sylvan Adams, the main shareholder in the “Israel Start-Up Nation” company. Therefore, the Williams team will display the “Israel Start-Up Nation” logos on the bodywork of the FW43 this weekend.

Outside of the financial aspect, Roy Nissany will strive to gain as much experience as possible for himself and data for the team.

« This legendary track is one of my favorites, as it is where I won my first single-seater race. I’m sure it will be emotional, but as always, I will switch on my robot mode to ensure I fully concentrate on my work for the team. » he shared.
