One more year for Kimi Räikkönen?
Asked about his future, the dean of the 2020 panel admits that he has not yet made a decision.

When he began his career in 2001, Kimi Räikkönen was seen as a UFO probably promoted too quickly. He quickly proved his talent and tenacity, but no one would have bet that he would still be on the starting grids 19 years later. Especially not him.
There was a time when very young drivers were favored. Just like him, Jenson Button made headlines in 2000, and then it was Fernando Alonso’s turn,
Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton, and even Felipe Massa were inducted very young. All with the success we know them for.
It’s amusing to note that Massa and Button retired late and that especially Vettel, Hamilton, and Räikkönen are still racing. Even Fernando Alonso will be making his return next year.
An inveterate competitor, the native of Espoo could see himself signing on for an additional season. Especially since before the COVID-19 episode, F1 was supposed to undergo its technical revolution next year, which would have allowed him to experience a fourth technical era…
Kimi Räikkönen declared during the Belgian Grand Prix that he had not made a decision. The ability to be close to his family and to fight, at least, for points will be major arguments regarding his future.
« I haven’t decided yet. It will be an overview. The most important thing for me is my family. My children are growing up, and this year I was able to spend a lot of time with them, it was wonderful. »
.
Let’s remember that Kimi Räikkönen doesn’t chase records (even though he holds a few). He races out of passion. But this passion must remain intact:
[…] that’s what will make me run or not. Obviously, a day will come and I will want to stay home and do other things. But for now, I don’t know.
No matter when or what his decision will be, it will be met with respect by all the fans he has around the world.
