Grosjean: “The worst car of my career”

Last in the Spanish Grand Prix, Romain Grosjean openly complained about the quality of his car even though he was competitive at the beginning of the weekend.

Day and night: Friday evening, Romain Grosjean was all smiles, having secured a fifth-place finish on merit. After qualifying, the situation was very different: the French driver couldn’t get out of Q1 and finished 17th. In the meantime, numerous changes had to be made to his car due to identified reliability issues. Consequently, his mechanics were forced to break curfew and finished working on the car at 4 a.m.

At the end of the race, the verdict was even more scathing: 19th and last, the Frenchman never regained the pace shown at the beginning of the weekend. Dejected, he stated to Canal +: “It was hell. It’s not the same car.” He regretted thus encountering understeer again, which does not suit his driving style at all. “Honestly, the car was undriveable. It was perhaps one of the worst cars I’ve driven in my career!”

The situation of the American team is becoming increasingly complicated, with only one point earned thanks to an offbeat strategy at the Hungarian Grand Prix. This allows them to stay ahead of Williams, the only team not to have scored any points this season. However, as the American team is currently making no improvements due to the financial impact of the current crisis and the uncertainty of its continuity in the category, there is little chance that things will improve in the coming weeks and months.
