McLaren brings back Gulf as a sponsor
McLaren announced today a new partnership with Gulf, an American oil company that had already supported the Woking team in the 1970s.

Gulf and McLaren is probably one of the most legendary partnerships in motorsport. The blue and orange livery of the British supercars is unmistakable. Initially, this historic alliance was formed in 1968 in Formula 1 and in the Can-Am series, a championship that McLaren dominated for five seasons. However, the partnership between these two brands is best known thanks to the 24 Hours of Le Mans when a McLaren F1 GTR with a certain blue and orange livery triumphed in 1996.
McLaren thus brings back this iconic motorsport brand to the premier category of motorsports. The sponsorship contract will start from this British Grand Prix with the logo of the American company featured on the engine cover and the mirrors of the MCL35, as well as on the drivers’ suits and the rest of the team’s gear.
A partnership that also extends to McLaren’s automotive segment as, starting from 2021, Gulf will also be responsible for providing lubricant and fuel for the supercars of Woking. It will also be possible for those who can afford it to have their car painted in the colors of the F1 GTR.
Zak Brown, the CEO of McLaren, seems delighted with this new partnership: We are thrilled to welcome Gulf back to McLaren and to bring together two iconic brands in an exciting new partnership. Gulf is part of McLaren’s history and is renowned for its innovation and technical excellence in the industry, which aligns perfectly with McLaren. We look forward to starting our partnership together this season.
