James Baldwin joins McLaren
McLaren Shadow announced yesterday its first driver for the 2020 F1 Esports season. He is none other than James Baldwin, a highly reputed sim racer in the field.

A few weeks ago, Veloce Esports announced a partnership with McLaren Shadow. An announcement that shocked the sim racing world as this was the second team that would allow the London-based organization to place its drivers. A stroke of genius that now allows them to have two line-ups. One with Alfa Romeo, composed of Daniel Bereznay and Jarno Opmeer, both considered among the top 5 drivers on the grid. On the other side, we find James Baldwin at McLaren.
The Englishman had to resign himself to spending a year on the bench due to lack of space. The winner of the Fastest Gamers Awards did not idle, however, as he began his motorsport adventure in GT with Jenson Button’s team.
Two major questions now arise with this signing: Who will be alongside James Baldwin at McLaren, and can the two Veloce teams beat Red Bull and Ferrari in 2020?
For the first position, several names are possible at McLaren. Filip Presjnader, a confirmed league racer who finished 3rd in the AOR last season. The Slovak even took part in an exhibition race for McLaren during this lockdown. The other two names on the list are Bardia Boromund, a champion in the AOR. The Iranian driver is well known at Veloce as he has also raced a few exhibition races, showing a very high speed and proving he could compete equally with Daniel Bereznay. Finally, there’s an already well-established Esport driver, Simon Weigang. The former Renault driver might find refuge at McLaren.
Regarding our second question, the strength of the Veloce teams would be the sharing of information and also the adjustments that can sometimes make all the difference in the race, especially since the game is still new, so the pros haven’t yet discovered all its little secrets. In any case, we can be sure that McLaren and Alfa Romeo will be in the battle for the title this season given the management and the resources developed by Veloce.
