Hungary: Verstappen, the Blunder then the Glory
Second at the finish, Max Verstappen was the best-placed driver in this Hungarian Grand Prix. After a complicated qualifying session and a judgment error leading to a crash on the formation lap, the Red Bull driver still managed to slide in between the Mercedes.

Elected Driver of the Day, the Dutch driver continues to impress. Known for his straightforwardness, he did not hesitate to express his dissatisfaction with the car’s performance after the Saturday qualifying session. On Sunday, he will be guilty of an avoidable driving error on the lap that leads the cars to their starting grid positions. This incident will cause major damage to the front of the car and lead to a hasty repair of car number 33 on the starting grid in record time. A performance by the mechanics that will save Max’s race. “I thought I wouldn’t be able to race today…” stated Verstappen in his post-race declaration.
Once on track, the Dutchman and the entire team delivered a flawless performance. At the lights out, taking advantage of Valtteri Bottas’s completely missed start, Max found himself in third place and set off in pursuit of the second position. A battle he would win thanks to his bold and offset strategy compared to Lance Stroll, who had pitted to install Medium tires a few laps earlier.
At the end of the race, he will withstand Valtteri Bottas’s attacks to secure a second place that feels like a victory for the Austrian team. At the finish, the Dutch driver will not fail to thank his mechanics, “A big thank you to the mechanics, you are legends,” exclaimed Max Verstappen at the finish line.
For Red Bull, the results of the races in Hungary are more than satisfactory; Albon also achieved the feat of finishing in fifth place after starting from thirteenth position and battling closely with the two Ferraris throughout the Grand Prix.
