Surprise just before the start of the first Grand Prix of the season (3:10 PM): Lewis Hamilton is penalized three grid places for not slowing down enough in response to the yellow flag following Valtteri Bottas' off-track excursion at the end of Q3!

Lewis Hamilton drops three places on the first starting grid of the season: the Briton was finally penalized by the FIA for not slowing down enough under yellow flag conditions, after Valtteri Bottas went off track at the end of Q3 this Saturday afternoon!
If the FIA had initially cleared the six-time world champion on Saturday, the body ultimately reversed its decision on Sunday afternoon, following an appeal from Red Bull Racing.
In the end, Lewis Hamilton will start from 5th place on the grid at 3:10 PM: Valtteri Bottas will start on the front row, with Max Verstappen beside him. Lando Norris (3rd) and Alexander Albon (4th) now occupy the second row, the McLaren driver ahead of the Red Bull driver. Behind them, it will be Hamilton in fifth place, with Sergio Pérez’s Racing Point beside him.
