Stars and drivers are set to meet for the Virtual Monaco Grand Prix
Eight F1 drivers from the 2020 season, former Formula 1 drivers, and celebrities will participate in the Virtual Monaco Grand Prix. Esteban Ocon and Valtteri Bottas will be the Rookies with their first participation in an online race.
F1 drivers are increasingly getting into e-sports. After an edition in Bahrain with only 2 drivers from the 2020 grid involved, the Monaco edition will have the feeling of a real championship race. Alex Albon, Antonio Giovinazzi, George Russell, Nicholas Latifi, Lando Norris, Charles Leclerc, and for the first time Esteban Ocon and Valtteri Bottas have all confirmed their participation.
Like a Grand Prix on the Rock, this virtual race will also feature its share of celebrities, this time participating in the competition. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, a player for the Arsenal football club, will be the teammate of Lando Norris for McLaren. Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who has become a regular in e-sports, will be alongside Antonio Giovinazzi for Alfa Romeo. Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi, globally known for his hit “Despacito,” will be competing with Racing Point.
The event will include a qualifying session that will determine the starting order, as well as a 39-lap race lasting approximately 1 hour and a half of competition.
For gaming enthusiasts and all Formula 1 fans looking for on-track action, the race will take place this Sunday, May 24. It will be broadcast live at 18:00 UK time, 19:00 France time, on Formula 1’s official YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook channels.
