Once again at the center of an upcoming debate, Helmut Marko confirms his statements about his “Corona camp.” The aim of the approach is to infect all the Red Bull drivers, from the eight juniors to the four main F1 drivers, so that they can immunize themselves against the virus while optimizing the challenging condensed season ahead.

« We have eight or ten juniors, declared Marko to the Austrian channel ORF. « The idea is to organize a camp where they could prepare physically and mentally during this downtime. And it will be the ideal time to contract the virus. »

Holding the noble status of a doctor, the Austrian, however, does not have any medical degrees, his title being solely linked to his doctorate in law acquired in his youth. Despite this, Marko is not at all worried about the possible effects of Covid-19 on his drivers: « They are all young men in very good health. This method would allow them to be ready when hostilities begin. And you can prepare for it to be a very tough championship when it starts. »

Poorly received within the Red Bull clan, this relatively radical idea will be set aside for the good of all, particularly Max Verstappen, who is worried about developing the virus. In any case, the Austrian proves once again that bad publicity does not exist; only media visibility is important…
