Igor Fraga signs with Red Bull
The Brazilian sim racer and driver, Igor Fraga, recently signed with the Red Bull junior driver team. But who is he and what are his achievements?
The ultimate goal for many sim racers is to move from the screen to the track. And Igor Fraga is one of these drivers. At 21 years old, the Brazilian already has a small track record in promotion formulas. After three years racing in Brazilian F3 with a few victories, he revealed his full potential in 2018 by winning two important sim racing competitions: the McLaren Shadow Project and the FIA Gran Turismo Championships Nations Cup. The following year, he also won the Manufacturer Series for Toyota on Gran Turismo Sport.
Red Bull has therefore decided to add a new driver to its junior driver academy, which already consists of promising talents such as Juri Vips, Yuki Tsunoda, and Jehan Daruvala.
Igor Fraga will race this year in Formula 3 with Charouz Racing System. It will be interesting to see how this driver, who comes from sim racing, performs. He will have to compete against drivers with more traditional backgrounds.
