Ocon makes his official debut in the Renault
Esteban Ocon drove a Formula 1 car again yesterday during the ongoing private tests in Abu Dhabi, for the first time in a long time thanks to his new team, Renault.
Announced since the summer break as a Renault driver, Esteban Ocon finally got his hands on his new ride during the first post-season test day, which took place yesterday. A successful first run for the Norman, who recorded the 8th fastest lap of the day but, more importantly, completed 77 laps, enough to get back into the swing of things in a big way!
These are Esteban Ocon’s first laps since his last Formula 1 Grand Prix at the final race of 2018 in Abu Dhabi.
« We must not forget that these are my only driving days in 2019. So, each day is important for getting back into the swing of things and re-familiarizing myself with the team. I know them well, since 2016, but there are at least 30% of people I need to get to know. It will be my race team for next year that will be with me during these two days. »
Esteban Ocon will drive the RS19 once again tomorrow for the second day of post-season testing.
« I began to discover the behavior of the R.S.19 and got closer to the limit lap by lap. It was fantastic to get back behind the wheel of a Formula 1. I received a warm welcome from the team. The first impressions are good, it was also nice to discover the 2020 tires, but there are still things to review, but it’s a good base to continue tomorrow. »
Esteban Ocon will once again drive the RS19 tomorrow for the second day of post-season testing.
