Official: Albon confirmed at Red Bull for 2020
Red Bull did not wait until the end of the season to confirm Alexander Albon as Max Verstappen's teammate for the 2020 season, thus dashing the little hope Pierre Gasly had of regaining his early season seat.

It is now official, Alexander Albon is given the chance to continue with Red Bull for the 2020 season. The Thai driver, who replaced Pierre Gasly starting from the Belgian Grand Prix, has continuously impressed his bosses, with Helmut Marko and Christian Horner leading the praise.
The Austrian team has therefore decided to extend Albon’s stint with the main team: « Alex has had excellent performances since his debut with Red Bull starting from the Belgian Grand Prix, and his results, six Top 6 finishes in seven races, speak for themselves. Alex has proven that he widely deserves to continue progressing with Red Bull. » specifically stated Christian Horner, the team’s Sporting Director.
On his side, Alex Albon is of course very happy with the opportunity he has been given: “I am very excited to be partnering with Max again next year, and I know how lucky I am to have this opportunity. I am extremely grateful to Red Bull for the trust they have in me and their support. This year has been incredible for me, being called up by Red Bull mid-season was a big step forward. Now, I will use my knowledge from this season to fight even harder in 2020.”
Even though it has not yet been officially confirmed, this announcement places Pierre Gasly in the Toro Rosso (future AlphaTauri) seat for next season.
