After a Mercedes one-two and Sebastian Vettel’s retirement in Russia, Ferrari will be eager to redeem themselves at the Japanese round.

You’ll need to get up early this Sunday to watch the 2019 Japanese Grand Prix race, as it will take place on Sunday, October 13th at 7:10 am French time.

The Japanese Grand Prix made its first appearance in Formula 1 in 1976. Its debut was held at the Fuji circuit for two seasons before being abandoned. It reappeared on the Formula 1 calendar in 1987 at the Suzuka track. Since then, Suzuka has been part of the Formula 1 calendar every year except in 2007 and 2008 when it was relocated back to Fuji.

Suzuka’s track is highly appreciated by Formula 1 drivers for its technicality and old school feel. It consists of 18 turns. Unfortunately, it was on this circuit that Jules Bianchi was involved in the accident that cost him his life on October 5, 2014. It will be 5 years this year.

This Grand Prix is very favorable to Mercedes since the German team has been undefeated for the past 5 years on this track. Lewis Hamilton won the race in 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2018, and Nico Rosberg in 2016. Last year, the British driver converted his pole position into a victory by staying in the lead from the first to the fifty-third lap ahead of Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen.

As with every Grand Prix this season, it is the Canal + group that broadcasts the entire event from Friday’s free practice to Sunday’s race.

All sessions and the race can also be followed on F1 TV, Formula 1’s streaming service, live and on demand.

Circuit length: 5.807km:

Number of laps in the race: 53

**Track Record:** 1:27.360 (Lewis Hamilton, 2017)
