McLaren partners with Mercedes from 2021
It is in a press release that McLaren announced leaving Renault in 2021 to choose Mercedes as its new engine supplier.
This is a very important announcement just made by the Woking outfit! Despite a very fruitful partnership with Renault, McLaren has decided to leave the French brand at the end of the 2020 season. It has set its sights on the Mercedes engine block.
A crucial choice for the future of the eight-time world champion team. Indeed, the decision to partner with Mercedes shows McLaren’s determination to climb back up the rankings and fight for victory once again. Because, while Renault offers Zak Brown’s team the possibility to dominate the midfield, the results are clearly not at the level of the top teams.

McLaren and Mercedes had already been united in the past. Between 1995 and 2014, the two won 78 races and finished on 231 podiums. That’s more success than with Honda. Will the British team be able to become a top team again with the 2021 regulations and this new alliance?
