Lewis Hamilton, not a fan of Netflix’s presence
We knew Mercedes was not inclined to appear in the Netflix series. Lewis Hamilton, however accustomed to show business, also did not show overwhelming enthusiasm.

The two major absentees from the first season of the Netflix series on F1 were the two leading teams, Mercedes and Ferrari. On the occasion of the announcement of a second season, F1 was proud to have the entire grid represented this time.
Toto Wolff had, however, already revealed that Mercedes’ presence would be limited to the Hockenheim Grand Prix. The team has thus chosen this event since it is the title sponsor and was celebrating its 200th Grand Prix in the category and its 125 years in motorsports.
In the team’s motorhome, one could see a sign indicating that the teams of the American company would be present during the weekend. When asked about the subject, Lewis Hamilton was somewhat critical of this filming: “It’s just for a weekend. To be honest, I haven’t seen the first season. It’s not my choice to be in the second season. I’ll just keep doing my job. Hopefully, they will be able to capture the right moments.”
On the other hand, the British champion had a much bigger smile when asked about the upcoming release of the documentary of which he is the executive producer on vegan food:« I spend a lot of time in Los Angeles and have a lot of meetings in the entertainment industry. The opportunity arose, and it was a great opportunity to put together this project. » He thus did not fail to mention that a player like Novak Djokovic has also adopted this approach, with the success that we know.
In the end, the Netflix series producers must have been thrilled with their weekend spent within the team since it had planned celebrations worthy of the investment made for the race, with the entire staff wearing retro outfits and cars sporting a special livery. Moreover, they were able to experience from the inside the psycho-drama of a possible withdrawal of the British driver before the qualifications due to illness.
Unfortunately for the team but fortunately for the cameramen present, the Grand Prix was a real disaster for the team as everything had gone ideally until the qualifications. Without a doubt, Toto Wolff’s outburst during Valtteri Bottas’ crash will be among the images highlighted…
