David Coulthard joins Channel 4

Three weeks after the announcement of the BBC's withdrawal from 2016, David Coulthard has managed to secure his presence in the paddocks next season: he joins the Channel 4 team.

The transfer of the former driver is far from a surprise since the British channel decided to grant the production of its race images to Whisper Films.

Now, this company was co-founded by David Coulthard, along with his former BBC colleagues, Sunil Patel and Jake Humphrey. It is possible to think that the latter could return to F1 while he currently holds the position of commentator on BT. His schedule and contract allow him to perform both roles.

David Coulthard commented on the double news: « It’s an exciting time for the sport and for Whisper Films. The F1 world has been very impressed with what Whisper has done over the last five years, and Channel 4’s decision is a testament to that. I’m looking forward to being part of this new exciting era for Formula One, with Whisper Films and our proven level of creativity and innovation. »

If he is therefore part of the team, it is not yet established whether he will be a presenter or a commentator for the races. Channel 4 has announced that the entire team will be introduced in the near future.
