This will certainly remain THE iconic image of the weekend at Silverstone, or even of the season: Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton tackle the high-speed Stowe corner, touch each other, and the Red Bull is sent flying into the safety barrier.

As is customary, he was taken to the medical center at the circuit. However, due to the pain the driver was experiencing, it was decided to send him to the hospital for additional medical tests. He was able to leave at 10 p.m. since no significant injuries were detected. Undoubtedly, he will be sore for a few days to recover from the huge impact he suffered laterally, the weak point of single-seaters.

But after his departure, the Dutchman did not mince his words towards the reactions of Lewis Hamilton’s fans, who celebrated his off-track excursion: « Glad to be okay. Very disappointed to have gone out like that. The penalty doesn’t help us and doesn’t do justice to Lewis’s dangerous move on the track. Seeing the celebrations while I’m still in the hospital is disrespectful and unsportsmanlike but we move on.

No doubt, tensions will still be running high when the paddock gathers in 15 days in the scorching heat of Budapest. It can be expected that both sides will be even more determined to win with the championship in mind.
