Nigel Mansell’s enormous F1 collection put up for auction
The auction of products from Nigel Mansell's collection is underway and ends tonight. 360 products put up for sale, a sale that should reach around 3 million euros according to our estimates.

World champion of Formula 1 in 1992, Nigel Mansell is part of the icons in motor sport and in Formula 1 of the 80s and 90s. Aged 70 today, he sells part of his collection to buyers around the world. In fact, he has entrusted more than 360 different items related to his history in Formula 1.
Having been established for many years in her museum on the island of Jersey, the sale was offered directly from Nigel Mansell’s long-standing property and auctioned with RM Sotheby’s house items that cover the entire career of the Englishman. Notably all the important trophies won during his Formula 1 and IndyCar racing period, as well as during the 1992 and 1993 championship years in these two series.
The sale also included numerous helmets, racing suits, boots, gloves, jumpsuits and sponsors’ clothing, podium caps, steering wheels and even motorcycles.
In total, 326 lots were sold. Notably, the sale of the Honda ST70 scooter that he sometimes used in the paddock went for more than €27,000, the helmet from his first victory was sold for over €79,000, or even simple Good Year caps worn on the podiums, for example during the 1987 French GP which he won, for €1,600.
An indispensable name in motor sport and F1
Nigel Mansell, an indispensable icon of motor sport, has left his mark on the history of Formula 1. Born on August 8, 1953, in England, Mansell made his F1 debut in 1980 within the Lotus team. His aggressive driving style and his unfailing determination on the track earned him a solid reputation. He quickly won the hearts of fans with his daring overtakes and epic duels against legendary rivals like Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost.
The 1992 season was the crowning achievement for Mansell. Driving the Williams-Renault, he dominated the championship from start to finish, winning nine victories and clinching the world championship title with an impressive lead. His iconic celebration of waving his helmet during the reconnaissance lap became an emblematic image of that era. Mansell was not only a talented driver, but also a charismatic figure who knew how to captivate the audience with his passion and dedication towards motorsport.
Beyond his F1 successes, Mansell also left his mark in other disciplines of motor sport. He won the IndyCar Formula championship in 1993, thus proving his versatility and ability to adapt to different types of races. His legacy endures in the history of Formula 1, and he remains one of the most loved and respected drivers of all time, both for his exploits on the track and for his charismatic personality outside the cockpit.
