Sauber Stake F1 unveils its C44
The Sauber Stake F1 team has unveiled its first single-seater, the C44. Sporting fluorescent green and black colors, its mission will be to surpass the performances of its Alfa Romeo predecessor.
Saube Stake F1 has unveiled its car for the 2024 season. The C44 marks a significant change from last season following Alfa Romeo’s departure. The car’s wings are neon green, while the bodywork is entirely black. “It has a very aggressive look,” said Guanyu Zhou.
The C44 will have the task of performing at least as well as its red predecessor. During the 2023 season, Sauber finished 9th in the championship. Although the beginning of the year had been rather encouraging, the development was not a success, unlike AlphaTauri, which finished just ahead. This new car will have to show that despite the arrival of Audi in 2026, Sauber Stake F1 Team will not enter into two neutral years.
“We want to be creative, always with the appropriate mindset to become a stronger team, but of course, we want to be creative and innovative,” said director Alessandro Alunni Bravi during the ceremony. “We want to adopt this bold approach, which is very important. It’s something that will of course be reflected in all our activities starting from tonight.”

New combinations
The new car is the first to be developed with the contribution of technical director James Key. Sauber indicated that they had planned a more ambitious program than in the past. « I think it is essential to build a new relationship with your machine, to understand a little more about its constant weaknesses or the most important ones, said Alessandro Alunni Bravi.
“It’s always truly inspiring to see the car for the first time and watch it come to life, knowing the incredible work done by so many talented people for such a long time,” Valtteri Bottas enthused. “It’s really motivating for me, and I can’t wait to hit the track to get good results and maintain the level. We are eagerly looking forward to discussing this new partnership, it’s so exciting.”
During a promotional video for the live event, Sauber Stake F1 revealed the outfit of its two drivers. Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou will be dressed in a black suit with fluorescent green sleeves. Last season, both athletes were dressed entirely in black.
Before leaving the ceremony, Valtteri Bottas concluded by stating, « now, it’s time for the race. »
The C44 will be put to the test on the Sakhir circuit on February 21st for the start of official pre-season testing.
