Renovation of the Hungaroring continues six months ahead of the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix
The renovation of the Hungaroring continues with an "incredible transformation" ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix, a circuit which will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2025.

The second phase of renovation work at the Hungaroring is in full swing, with facilities such as the paddock, the main building, and the main grandstand completely revamped, while preparations continue for the Hungarian Grand Prix.
A colossal construction site
After the completion of the first phase of the project last summer, the second phase began one week after the 2024 Formula 1 race, in July. Currently, 620 people are working daily on the circuit. During the fall, up to 12 tower cranes have been active on site.
Over the past six months since last year's Hungarian Grand Prix, the renovation has required the use of 23,785 cubic meters of concrete, 7,604 tons of reinforcing steel, and 759 square meters of masonry structure.
Regarding the main stand, 100% of the precast reinforced concrete beams and nearly 50% of the stand elements have been installed, while the stair elements are being installed. Additionally, backfilling around the paddock building has allowed the completion of major earthworks.
In other areas, the construction of the vertical structure of the third floor of the paddock building is progressing, and 22 kilometers of protective tubes as well as 80 kilometers of conduits have been installed around the track, including 20 kilometers of electrical cables. Additionally, the high-voltage system in the depot area is complete, and 90% of the low-voltage systems are finished.
40th Anniversary for the Hungarian Circuit
If everything goes as planned, spectators of the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix will be able to discover the new look of the Hungaroring, as part of this renovation project that will continue until 2026.
« Our circuit has undergone an incredible transformation », said Zsolt Gyulay, CEO of the Hungaroring. « The view changes every day, with the new main building and the main grandstand rising at an impressive pace. »
« It is one of the most important and exciting construction projects in Hungary, a true highlight of the Hungarian construction industry. We will have to organize the 40th Hungarian Grand Prix without the main building being completely finished, which will require temporary solutions for race control and the media center. »
« After this year's race, we will immediately return the site to the contractor so that the Hungaroring becomes a multifunctional event center by 2026, meeting all needs and operational 365 days a year. »
« We look forward to welcoming international participants. I think many will be surprised when they see the changes underway. And I am convinced that the entire Formula 1 team will be satisfied with what they discover », he concluded.
Then… now… and soon. A year in pictures.
