If you love roaring engines, get ready: « Fast » arrives in cinemas on April 16 and plans to make tires screech on the big screen. This 100% French film, directed by Morgan S. Dalibert, features a driver who wants to dominate in F1 but faces a paddock that's still too macho.

The synopsis? Max, a young ultra-talented driver, wants to break into Formula 1, but no one trusts her. Fortunately, she crosses paths with a slightly crazy former driver, played by Alban Lenoir, who will do everything to push her to the top. Rapide seems to fully embrace the codes of the sports film, including the demanding mentor, improbable training sessions, and the rival who becomes a love interest, as analyzed by Écran Large.

Alban Lenoir, the new face of French action

You may have already seen him in Lost Bullet or AKA on Netflix. Alban Lenoir is becoming the benchmark for action made in France. With his raw charisma and intense acting, he is perfectly suited to play a slightly eccentric but ultra-competent mentor. Écran Large highlights this well: In a few years, Alban Lenoir has become the new symbol of a French action cinema that is both humble and demanding in its production. In Quick, he takes on the role of the one who still believes in Max when everyone else shuts the door on him.

From the very first images of the trailer, you can feel that Fast won't just be about revving engines, it will also play on emotion. There are swirling drone shots around the cars, trackings that stick with the single-seaters, just like in Gran Turismo, another recent film about motorsport. Morgan S. Dalibert's approach is reminiscent of another film about young drivers: Gran Turismo, notes Écran Large. The aesthetic is dynamic, with a direction that seems to capture well the sensation of speed and the constant danger looming over the circuits. Pure and hard action with a touch of emotion—that's what awaits you!

A film that goes beyond mere entertainment?

If « Fast » is a sports film that plays on the genre's classics, it also raises a real question: why are there so few women in F1? It's known that motorsport is still very closed to female drivers at a high level. No F1 seat has been occupied by a woman since Lella Lombardi in 1976! Who knows, this film could give a boost to all the young female drivers who dream of speed. In any case, we hope this film will inspire as much as it entertains!

So, do you plan to watch it?
