On the eve of the Australian Grand Prix, Barrichello made very surprising remarks about Michael Schumacher. The Brazilian and the German had maintained complex relations after their respective stints at Ferrari, where the seven-time world champion was heavily favored for victories. Nevertheless, Barrichello tries to protect his former teammate and warns him about his return to Formula 1.
The Brazilian also warns about his remarks: « I have to be careful with what I say here because it always sounds very doubtful coming out of my mouth. »
Barrichello admits that Schumacher is taking a huge risk by returning when he had left on a high note: « Honestly, I think he can do well this year, but when he left Formula 1, he was winning all the time. For me, he has more to lose than to gain, he’s doing it for fun and because he’s in shape. But I hope it continues… »
Exit through the back door while Schumacher had successfully made his exit. That’s the risk taken by the Red Baron.
