Nicky Catsburg discusses the mechanical issue at the beginning of the race
The Corvette driver had to come back to the pits, while he was in the lead. The Dutch driver fell victim to a suspension failure.

Corvette was on pole and hadn’t lost any position at the start. Their leading race in the category didn’t last long. Before the first safety car intervention, Nicky Catsburg gets on the radio and reports a problem with the car.
“It was very strange. Everything was going well. The car was running smoothly and everything was fine. Prototypes were passing me and I had a weird feeling. It may be because I had to go off the line and got a ‘pick-up’, but it didn’t go away,” explains Nicky Catsburg.
« The car would move a lot and it wouldn’t go away. The car moved a lot when braking and at high speeds. So I told the guys that I thought we had a problem. When I arrived at the pits, we found out it was the shock absorber. »
Car number 33 then stayed two laps in its garage to change this part. At the eighth hour of the race, the Corvette was in 8th position.
