Renault CEO Luca de Meo to meet Alpine employees at Viry-Châtillon on Friday

In a press release issued on Tuesday, Alpine Racing's works council announced that a meeting would be held this Friday between Renault boss Luca de Meo and employees at Viry-Châtillon, as part of the discussions concerning the discontinuation of the group's F1 engine program.

While Alpine (formerly Renault) has been producing its F1 engines since 1977, the French brand has been considering since mid-July to stop the development of F1 engines in 2026.

The Social and Economic Council of Alpine Racing, the engine supplier for the French Formula 1 team, announces that it has secured a meeting with Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault Group, on Friday, September 20, 2024, to bring to his attention the misunderstanding related to the end of the development of the F1 engine in France, at the Viry-Châtillon site, a technology unique in France, as stated in the press release.

The members of the CSE also indicate that they are grateful to Mr. De Meo for responding positively to this request. The outcome of this meeting could be crucial in the resolution of the Alpine engine program, if the management’s positions are not already fixed.
