Jules Gounon, more than just a substitute driver
Replacement driver for Alpine in the World Endurance Championship, the Frenchman has already been selected three times this season. He will be again for the final in Bahrain.

Does the situation announce something better for Jules Gounon? Possible. The Frenchman has shown all his abilities at Alpine this season by participating in four races of the world championship: at Imola, Spa, Fuji, and now Bahrain.
The announcement of his participation in the WEC final was made on Friday, October 4th. He will replace Nicolas Lapierre, who hung up his helmet. This once again proves the team’s confidence in its driver, who performed wonders in Japan a few weeks ago. He also finished on the podium in the Japanese round.

With Nicolas Lapierre’s departure for a sporting director position at Alpine, a spot opens up within the French team’s line-up. It would make sense for the driver with an Andorran license to be promoted as the undisputed starter, unless his other commitments with Mercedes prevent him from being present 100%.
What about Mick Schumacher?
The decision has not yet been made internally, Philippe Sinault is in discussion with his team. But with the departure of Nicolas Lapierre, it seems logical that Jules Gounon will take his place. Especially since he has the trust of his superiors and has shown his abilities this season.
Another Alpine team member is uncertain for next year. Mick Schumacher still has Formula 1 aspirations, having driven for two seasons with Haas. Philippe Sinault indicated that he was not sure if he would see the German still in blue next year, but that he was doing everything he could to retain him.
