Lewis Hamilton sees his historic run of F1 podiums come to an end
The end of the series for Lewis Hamilton after 17 seasons, with no podiums in the first 10 races in 2025.

Lewis Hamilton did not secure a podium in the first 10 races of the 2025 season, a first in his Formula 1 career.
A series that ends
The seven-time world champion had until now always managed to finish on the podium at least once in the first 10 races of each of his previous 17 seasons in F1. This impressive streak came to an end after the Canadian Grand Prix, where Lewis Hamilton finished only sixth.
Last year, he came close to ending this streak but managed to save face with a third-place finish in Spain, the tenth race of the 2024 season.
In 2009, while his McLaren MP4-24 was significantly off pace, Lewis Hamilton secured his first victory of the year… during the 10th race, in Hungary.
A record preserved despite everything
On a more positive note, Lewis Hamilton retains another record: the record for the most consecutive podiums for a McLaren driver.
In 2007, during his rookie season, he had a streak of nine podiums. Oscar Piastri could have matched this performance in Montreal, but the Australian finished fourth.
A Canadian Grand Prix spoiled… by a groundhog
Qualified fifth – his best result of the season – Lewis Hamilton had a difficult race, finishing in a distant sixth place. An aerodynamic loss estimated at 20 points of downforce (about half a second per lap) significantly compromised his performance.
Cause: a collision with a marmot on the Gilles-Villeneuve circuit. The Briton expressed his sadness after the incident.
I was doing quite well at the start of the race, good start, good pace… then I found out I had hit a marmot. It’s devastating. I love animals, it’s the first time this has happened to me. I am really sad, he told Sky Sports F1.
The car sustained significant damage to the right floor, complicating the rest of the race. Added to this were a brake issue and a less than optimal first pit stop strategy. « In the end, I’m happy to have reached the finish and scored some points », concluded the Ferrari driver.
