Bahrain Grand Prix F2 – Richard Verschoor wins!
Netherlands' Richard Verschoor (Trident) dominated this first race of the year ahead of Jehan Daruvala and Liam Lawson. Unfortunate Théo Pourchaire retired.

The Formula 2 officially kicked off its 2022 season this afternoon for the first race of the year!
The Brazilian Felipe Drugovich started in pole position following the reversed grid (tenth place in yesterday’s qualifying). Unfortunately, the MP Motorsport driver makes a mistake right after the lights go out. This benefits the Dutchman Richard Verschoor, who takes the lead right from the start. He will lead all 23 laps of this sprint race.
We were able to catch a glimpse of the new Safety Car following Marcus Armstrong’s retirement (collided with Jake Hughes). On the restart, the Mechachrome engine of Théo Pourchaire’s ART GP gave up. Théo had to abandon the race despite having climbed four positions and had the pace to fight for the podium… (Théo Pourchaire once again unlucky in Bahrain).
We are in for a fierce battle for second place between Jehan Daruvala and Ralph Boshcung. The Indian from Prema will have the final say and finish this race in second place.
Liam Lawson takes advantage of other people’s problems to climb to the third step of the podium!
Clément Novalak, the other French driver, made a mistake at the first corner and crashed into Jake Hughes’s VAR. He finished in 18th position with his MP Motorsport.
Richard Verschoor has clinched his second Formula 2 victory, the second one in Bahrain!
We mentioned in our seasonal guide that the Dutch were worth watching out for.
