The battle is raging at all levels among the constructors at the end of this season

Whether it's for first place, the podium, the top 5 or even the top 8, the battle for the best positions in the constructors' championship promises to be very intense for the final races.

The Mexican Grand Prix had the merit of tightening the positions in the World Constructors’ Championship. First of all, thanks to Red Bull’s double podium, it allowed the Austrian team to place itself just one point behind its rival Mercedes. With four races to go in this exciting championship, we may be on the verge of a major turning point in Formula 1 history as Mercedes has won all the constructors’ titles since 2014 and the introduction of the turbo-hybrid engine. The reliability of Max Verstappen, the progress of Sergio Pérez, and Valtteri Bottas’ failures in the last two races are all factors that have contributed to finding ourselves in this situation on the eve of the Brazilian Grand Prix.

In addition to the fight for the title, the battle for third place is just as exciting between two giants of motor sport. Indeed, McLaren and Ferrari have not stopped sharing this position throughout the season. These two teams have a total of 9 podiums (5 for McLaren, 4 for Ferrari), 3 pole positions (1 for the orange team, 2 for the red team) and a victory obtained at Monza by the Woking team. But since the Turkish Grand Prix and the introduction of major upgrades on the Italian V6, the prancing horse team seems to have taken the lead. Since Sunday and the Mexican Grand Prix, it has a 13.5-point lead in the championship and has never been challenged in the race by its English rival at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. The Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos is therefore an opportunity for McLaren to catch up on a circuit where it has already won eight times.

106. This number may remind you of your first car and above all represents the number of points of Alpine and AlphaTauri in fifth place in the championship. Thanks to Pierre Gasly’s magnificent top 4 in Mexico, the Faenza team has caught up with the French team. This is quite a performance considering that the Norman driver alone has scored 86 points. His teammate Yuki Tsunoda is mostly making headlines for his off-track excursions and critical comments on the radio. In the last three races, AlphaTauri has scored 19 points more than Alpine. The French team must wake up in Brazil and will be able to find motivation in their memories, as it is in Interlagos that Fernando Alonso won his two world championship titles with Renault (the former name of the Alpine team).

Further down the rankings, a more discreet battle is being fought between Williams and Alfa Romeo for 8th place in the championship. This 2021 season marks a small revival for the venerable Grove team. Indeed, the English team had only scored one point in the 2019 and 2020 seasons. Furthermore, it finished last in the standings in the last three seasons. A few days before the Brazilian Grand Prix, Williams has 23 points, 12 more than Alfa Romeo. Certainly, these two teams often have to rely on luck to enter the top 10, but Williams should be cautious. With Kimi Räikkönen facing them, wanting to end his Formula 1 career on a high note, the threat looms.
