End of the summer saga between Aston Martin and the FIA. The team decides to withdraw its appeal. A new twist that finally concludes this matter.

On Monday, August 9, the stewards decided to reject the British team’s request for a review of Sebastian Vettel’s disqualification. The German driver had finished second in the Hungarian Grand Prix. Due to a lack of fuel in his car, he was disqualified.

In a tweet, Aston Martin stated that it had reviewed its position in the matter. The team has chosen to withdraw its appeal. Vettel thus definitively loses his second place and leaves Hamilton and Sainz on the podium.

After examining our position and taking note of the FIA sports commissioners’ ruling that there was clear new evidence of a fuel system failure, we nevertheless withdrew our appeal on the grounds that we believe it outweighs the benefits of being heard.
