Aston Martin contests Vettel’s disqualification in Hungary
Aston Martin confirms to appeal against the decision to disqualify Sebastian Vettel after the Hungarian Grand Prix. The team is providing new evidence.

Aston Martin does not intend to stop there. In a statement, the team requested a review of Sebastian Vettel’s disqualification, who finished second in the Hungarian Grand Prix. A few hours after the race, the German driver was disqualified because a sample of at least 1 liter was not submitted to the FIA at the end of the race.
« There is no suggestion that Vettel’s single-seater benefited from a performance advantage due to the alleged violation of the regulations or that this was deliberate.
The data indicated that there was 1.74 liters of fuel left in Vettel’s car. Aston Martin even specified that new evidence relevant to the penalty and not available at the time of the FIA stewards’ decision. The team plans to use this evidence in its right to appeal.
« The team’s data indicated that there was 1.74 liters of fuel in the car after the race. The team reserved the right to appeal and requested a right of review alongside the appeal procedure. »
This disqualification changes several points. It allowed Lewis Hamilton to take second place and Carlos Sainz to step onto the last step of the podium. Worse, it has a consequence on the constructors’ standings. Aston Martin is currently seventh with 66 points, behind Alpine and its 75 points.
