The battle for pole looks set to be tighter than ever in 2016. Even if Nico Rosberg set the fastest time, the margin with Max Verstappen, the lizard hunter, was (still!) miniscule. Daniel Ricciardo and the Ferraris are also on the right track. Uncomfortable in his braking phases, Hamilton failed to set any real benchmark lap.

Is the glass half-full or half-empty? After some promising results at Monza on an unfavourable circuit, the McLaren-Honda duo were certainly expecting a slightly more interesting Friday in Singapore, marked by a fairly average performance and a few reliability problems.

The French driver didn't beat about the bush to describe his catastrophic Friday, after an engine problem in the first session, followed by heavy contact with the wall in the second! Esteban Gutierrez led the Haas F1 Team's development program on his own, so to speak...

As expected, the Red Bull team was within touching distance of a very good result for the rest of the action in Singapore. Everything went very well on Friday, both for Max Verstappen (first in FP1) and Daniel Ricciardo.
Le 16/09, 11:47
Max Verstappen took the lead after the first laps in Singapore, with a time of 1:45.823, achieved in ultra-soft conditions. Daniel Ricciardo completed a Red Bull one-two at the top of the timesheet, ahead of Sebastian Vettel. Right behind them, Hamilton and Rosberg set their best times in soft tyres, but the German cut his session short after a heavy touch with the wall!

For the ninth time in its history, the F1 Circus takes to the streets of Singapore for a 100% night-time Grand Prix. MotorsInside.com sets the scene for the fifteenth round of the season, with a non-exhaustive preview!

Still no points for the Sauber F1 Team in 2016. 16th place for Marcus Ericsson and a collision for Felip Nasr with Palmer's Renault. Surprisingly, after receiving a 10-second penalty, the Brazilian returned to the track to honour his penalty... before retiring in the process!
