As expected, the RB7 proved to be competitive this Friday for the first practice sessions of the Australian GP. The two Red Bull drivers were the fastest this morning.

In the second session, Vettel and Webber were positioned fourth and fifth, respectively. Like all the other drivers, the Australian and the German are obviously delighted to see the season finally begin.

Mark Webber – 1st and 5th:

We had a few showers at the end of the second session, which is always tricky, but overall it was a good day for us. We still have work to do, there are fast guys out there.

It was good to test the tires on this circuit, and I had a run with all the new features on the car. McLaren seems fast, but with Ferrari, you can never say because they tend to run with a bit more fuel on Fridays.

Sebastian Vettel – 2nd and 4th:

It was an exciting start to the season as there is always a lot happening in Melbourne. We were able to complete many laps today, but the weather was a bit challenging. It started to rain and then dried up again, which doesn’t make it easy to test different things. Despite this, I think we have a good idea of where we stand compared to our competitors. All in all, I think we can be happy, it seems we are not too bad, but we have to wait and see.
