If there is one team that particularly stood out this Friday, it is indeed HRT, which, however, shone more by its absence than by its performances. The course of this first official day is not reassuring for the small Spanish team, which had failed to get its new car running in Barcelona due to a lack of parts, according to the official version.
Nevertheless, the HRT engineers bent over backwards to allow Vitantonio Liuzzi to perform the shakedown of the car which, in any case, they hope at HRT, should have a somewhat more productive Saturday.
Vitantonio Liuzzi – DNS & 22nd
« Even if we only did one lap today, it is very important for us to have run the F111. It was a big effort for everyone, the mechanics and engineers worked all night to prepare the car. It’s very positive to have the car on the track and we now have some figures to study for tomorrow. We are looking forward to it because it will be our first opportunity to line up a few laps and get some information about the car. »
Narain Karthikeyan – DNS & DNS
« Everyone is working hard to try to get things in place. With new cars always comes a set of problems. We have all the parts, but everything needs to be assembled and it takes time. Unfortunately, we lost a day, so I think it will undoubtedly be a tough weekend but at least we have made some progress. »
Colin Kolles
« The team made a big effort today. Tomorrow we can have a normal day with our two cars on the track. Tomorrow will be another workday, and we can hope for more progress. As for today, I have to thank the whole team for their work; they did a great job. I am very proud of them. »
