Kaspersky launches a Ferrari-themed antivirus

New stage of collaboration between Kaspersky and Ferrari: the Russian antivirus company has just unveiled a version in the Scuderia colors.

The relationship between the two partners began at last year’s Spanish Grand Prix when Eugene Kaspersky’s eponymous company became one of the suppliers in the field of IT protection for the Maranello team. A further step was taken at the last Abu Dhabi Grand Prix when it decided to become a full sponsor for the next two seasons.

For Ferrari, the interest is twofold: a significant source of revenue since it is highly likely that Ferrari will earn a commission on the sales of each copy of the special edition of the famous antivirus, as is already the case for products offered by Puma (shoes, clothing) or Acer (computers).

But the second lever is linked to one of the additions to the antivirus, the Ferrari Virtual Academy. Ferrari heavily invested in this game, for which it created a genuine teaser to announce its launch and enlisted three of the team’s drivers: Fernando Alonso, Felipe Massa, and Giancarlo Fisichella. Unlike what McLaren had done through Mobil, this game is not free but is indeed for sale. The distribution through its Russian partner’s antivirus will therefore help increase the game’s visibility and distribution while providing significant incentive for people to purchase it…
