The Austin circuit named Circuit of the Americas

The preparation for the return of Formula One to the United States next season has just taken a new step with the announcement of the official name given to the Austin circuit. It will be called the "Circuit of the Americas" to celebrate the central position of the Texan city.

The circuit under construction is not intended to be just a race track but truly a business and entertainment center used all year round, as stated by Tavo Hellmund, the president of Formula 1 United States Grand Prix: “We are building a destination for entertainment and business, not just a race track. This brand completely reflects that idea. There will only be about thirty racing days a year, but the ideas of high performance and victories will be inspired by this brand every day.”

The infrastructures built to meet Bernie Ecclestone’s requirements are thus designed with the objective of being used in other contexts throughout the year. For example, the paddock can accommodate up to 500 people, making it an ideal venue for private or corporate dinners as well as charitable fundraising events. Similarly, the conference center has a maximum capacity of 750 people, enabling the city to have a new center for conferences, seminars, or social receptions.

The circuit is therefore fully in line with the city’s communication and attractiveness strategy, even though all construction costs are borne by a private company. The Texan capital has clearly understood the advantage of having facilities that can accommodate up to 120,000 people at the same time, especially since the outdoor venue can also be used for concerts outside of race weekends.
