Sunday: Team Lotus Proud of Their Race
The Team Lotus drivers delivered a solid race and confirmed the progress seen since the start of the season. Reliable, the T128s of Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli made it to the finish, with the Finn even enjoying the luxury of beating Sergio Pérez's Sauber and Pastor Maldonado's Williams.
Heikki Kovalainen – 16th
« This is our best performance. It’s not the best position we’ve finished in, but today, we beat two midfield cars fair and square, so I’m very happy with my performance as well as the team’s performance. We knew we would face challenges in yesterday’s cool conditions, but today, the temperatures rose, and we expected to deliver this kind of race that would do justice to the car’s true performance. We will continue to work hard to improve the car’s behavior in cooler conditions, and we can only get better. »
Jarno Trulli – 19th
« I got off to a good start, and then Heikki and I were able to pull away from the cars behind and stick to our strategy to fight with those ahead of us. My first pit stop wasn’t great, and I still have some issues with tire degradation, but today, really, it’s a team result. We’ve shown that we’re headed in the direction we want, and it’s a huge motivation for everyone. »

« It was an absolutely fantastic race from our two drivers and the team who handled the pressure brilliantly. It’s very satisfying to have beaten two midfield teams on our pace and strategy and to have shown that we have closed the gap to the established teams. Both our drivers got off to a good start and with the track temperature higher, we knew our race pace would be good, and we demonstrated that. Despite tire degradation, we were able to stick to our two-stop strategy, which was always our plan and which allowed us to overtake a few drivers, offering us our strongest race in Formula One. Additionally, we were only lapped once at the very end of the race, so I am very proud of the whole team today. »
