Sunday: Rosberg betrayed by the consumption of his Mercedes
The young German could have created a sensation this Sunday in Shanghai if he hadn't unfortunately been forced to save fuel at the end of the race. Disappointed with his 5th place finish, Nico remains confident for the rest of the season. Michael Schumacher, for his part, enlivened the race and seemed to have enjoyed it a lot.
Nico Rosberg – 5th
Naturally, I am disappointed with today’s race because we know we didn’t seize our opportunity. We made a big step forward with the car this weekend, which is really nice to see and we will have better races in the future. Leading the race for so long was a great feeling but we encountered fuel consumption issues which made it more difficult to defend my position. We could have had a podium today, or maybe more, but we must all learn from this as a team and make sure we can get results next time.
Michael Schumacher – 8th
There was a lot of action for just one Grand Prix this afternoon and it’s very exciting! I had a lot of fun today and I’m so happy to see that the hard work of our guys paid off this weekend. We made a big step forward with the car and it worked very well. We are now looking forward to the first race in Europe, and we will bring some updates to Istanbul which should help us progress even more. It’s good to leave Asia on a positive note.

« We had a very encouraging race today in terms of our pace and overall performance. Nico and Michael did a fantastic job in making the most of what they had, and our strategy and pit stops were very good. It’s disappointing to have had to start saving fuel with Nico, which cost him at least a podium finish. We need to find out why we struggled more with fuel consumption in the race than in practice, even considering changes in track conditions and grip. There was clearly an issue, and it’s very frustrating for Nico and the team. However, we can take away the positives from this weekend knowing that if we do a decent job, we can be competitive. »
