Robert Kubica is free to leave the hospital

The Italian hospital Santa Corona in Pietra Ligure has officially allowed Robert Kubica to leave its premises. The facility had been taking care of the Polish driver for two months. He had been admitted there urgently after a serious rally accident.

On February 6th, the driver suffered severe injuries after an accident during the Ronde di Andora Rally in Italy. Since then, he has undergone four complex surgeries on his right arm and leg. Severely injured, particularly on his hand and foot as well, the driver was slowly recovering.

He recently began a painful and lengthy rehabilitation process with the aim, of course, of regaining 100% of his physical potential. The doctors are not commenting on a possible return to Formula 1. Robert Kubica has not lost hope of getting back into the R31. He also wanted to participate in the official beatification ceremony of John Paul II on May 1st in Rome.

Nevertheless, his press officer wanted to warn his fans that he will not be going there. It’s still too early for such a trip.

«Following the speculation that has recently appeared in the media, we wish to clarify that due to the schedule of the rehabilitation process, Robert Kubica will not participate in the official beatification ceremony of John Paul II.»

Rehabilitation continues in Italy, while awaiting a possible return in the coming weeks to England at the Lotus Renault GP drivers’ training base.
