Friday: the new developments are working well at Lotus Renault GP
Like many, the Lotus Renault GP drivers are pleased to have been able to test the extreme tires offered by tire manufacturer Pirelli. However, they regret not having tried the intermediates. Despite everything, this first day is encouraging for the team, which can look forward to the rest of the weekend with optimism.

Nick Heidfeld – 4th 13th:
« It was good to finally have experience with wet conditions using the extreme tires because I had never used them before. It went well, I must say. We didn’t want to destroy them because we hadn’t tested them before, we didn’t know how long they would last, and the weather wasn’t clear for Saturday and Sunday.»
Unfortunately, we were not able to try the intermediates. Then the second session took place in dry conditions, and we completed our program, which was to do long stints with a lot of fuel.
Vitaly Petrov – 5th and 7th:
It was a bit difficult today with the weather conditions. We didn’t use intermediate tires in the first session, which is a shame. We wanted to save tires, which is why we only did 10 laps.
In the second session we knew it would be dry. We have to be happy. We set faster times as we hoped and there is still more to come from the car. Judging by our performance in FP2, I think there are encouraging signs for the rest of the weekend.
