Sauber and Kamui Kobayashi launch an app for Japan
As the only representative of the Land of the Rising Sun in F1, Kamui Kobayashi is taking the lead to ensure F1 contributes to the reconstruction efforts of his homeland. An iPhone app has just been launched, with all proceeds to be donated to the Japanese Red Cross.

If all the teams had already made a first gesture by displaying a Japanese flag on their cars since the beginning of the season, it is obviously Sauber that is primarily concerned due to the presence of Kamui Kobayashi.
The Japanese driver declares: « Even though the catastrophe attracted significant international attention in the days following the earthquake and tsunami, other news has dominated the headlines since. However, the destruction in the country is so significant that it will take years to recover from the losses and damage. The Japanese people therefore need long-term support. I would like to thank all my colleagues in Formula One for their contributions and hope that our e-book will sell as well as possible. »
The iPhone application sold at a unit price of 0.79 euros is a book with testimonies from all the drivers on the grid as well as their team managers. It is the art of combining the useful with the pleasant for all F1 fans by making a modest contribution to the reconstruction effort after one of the worst earthquakes recorded on Earth and a devastating tsunami.
We can nevertheless regret that the application is only available on Apple’s operating system, while other systems have significant market shares, which would further broaden the reach of this sign of support from the world of Formula 1.
