Alonso extends with Ferrari until 2016

Last week, Luca di Montezemolo stated that he wanted to keep Fernando Alonso at Ferrari for a long time. Today, the Italian team announced the renewal of the double world champion’s contract until 2016. Alonso therefore extends his partnership with the prancing horse for 4 years.

« It is a great pleasure to have renewed our agreement with a driver who has always demonstrated a winning mentality even in difficult circumstances, » declares Luca di Montezemolo.

Fernando has all the necessary qualities, both technical and personal, to play a role in Ferrari’s history, and I hope he will enrich it with new victories very soon.

Arriving last season in Maranello, Fernando Alonso is obviously delighted to continue the adventure with the Italian team.

The Scuderia Ferrari is already fully booked for 2012 as President Montezemolo also confirmed that Massa has a contract for the next season.
