Sunday: Team Lotus is heading in the right direction
Team Lotus takes a lot of positives from its Spanish weekend. Kovalainen's 15th position in qualifying showed that the team is heading in the right direction. In the race, both drivers demonstrated a good pace on soft tires before slowing down a little on the hard compounds. Unfortunately, Kovalainen ended his race in the gravel trap but remains positive for the rest of the season.

Jarno Trulli – 18th:
The race was really good. It was another great start for me, one more this season, so it’s very positive. I gained positions and was well in the race at the beginning. Obviously, the car was better with the soft tires than with the hard ones, and that gave us a few good stints. Unfortunately, towards the middle of the race, I felt I had an issue with the exhausts affecting the rear of the car, which means my performance was not as good as at the start. But overall, it was a very good race for me. I fought like a lion, and I’m happy with myself and feel that I really extracted the best out of the car today.
There is still a bit of work to do to get closer to the guys in front, but it’s fantastic to have beaten the guys behind once again. The new aero package is good. We need to focus on its development for the future and increase the gap with the guys behind while reducing it with the cars in front.
Heikki Kovalainen – Retirement:
It’s really a shame that my weekend ends this way. I made a mistake at the entrance of turn 4 and went off, but before that, my race was good. Jarno and I were fighting in the pack for a good part of the race, but the tires started to degrade, and the pace was no longer there. We might have should have pitted earlier, but we always learn a lot from weekends like this and can take that into account for Monaco, where I think it will be a very interesting weekend for everyone.
