Sunday: Opposing strategies at Force India

Starting 16th and 17th respectively, the two Force India drivers were counting heavily on their race pace and good strategy to climb up the order. The two cars from the Indian team finished 12th and 13th, just outside the points.

Paul Di Resta – 12th:

I think we can be satisfied with the result today, especially after gaining four positions compared to my starting position on the grid. We compromised our qualifying to save tires yesterday which was definitely the right approach, but we lacked a bit of pace to do more.

« I was also stuck behind the Toro Rossos in my first three stints, otherwise I might have been able to finish a bit higher. Despite everything, there’s a lot of positive because we made the strategy work, the pit stops went well, and I think this result is the best we could have achieved without the cars in front of us having issues. »

Adrian Sutil – 13th:

The final result today is the one we expected. I had a different strategy from Paul’s, starting with the hard tires which were very slow in the beginning and the first stint wasn’t easy. Then I switched to the softs and the race began for me and I was able to move forward gradually. It was easy to overtake today because when the car in front of you struggles with the tires, there is a big speed difference.

In the last laps, the car was good, but I could have done two or three more laps to maximize my strategy and gain some ground.
