Saturday: Mercedes GP Optimistic for the Race
The Mercedes drivers had good qualifications overall, even though Nico Rosberg was not able to confirm his promising performances glimpsed on Friday and this morning during a diligent Free Practice session for the German team.

Nico Rosberg – 3rd & 6th
« In general, we made good progress this weekend and qualifying in 6th position is a good thing for us today. I’m quite confident that we can do better in the race compared to our pace in Monaco.
We have worked a lot on our race pace and I hope we can translate that tomorrow.
It’s good to have saved a set of soft tires for the race.
Michael Schumacher – 7th & 8th
« We can be quite happy with our qualifying today. I lost some handling after turn 4 in my last lap, but otherwise, I had a clean lap. We will have to analyze what happened, but overall, everything went rather well.
We developed our settings in the right direction throughout the weekend, and the long stints seemed pretty good this morning, so it should go well in the race.
Ross Brawn
« We had very solid qualifications today, with both our drivers and the team doing a great job. We have given ourselves good chances with the tires and have a set of new super-soft tires for both our drivers for the race, so, all in all, it has been a pretty good afternoon. We know that going forward we need to improve our lap times but, until then, we have done the best we could with what we had. »
