Kamui Kobayashi – 15th & 13th

« It’s a tough weekend for us. After my accident yesterday, the team had to change my chassis. My biggest problem here is going over the curbs. Overall, I lacked grip and it was very tricky to reach the limit with the car. Nevertheless, the balance of the car improved a bit today. I could have gone a few tenths faster on my last flying lap. I was pushing quite hard, and it was good until the middle of the second sector when I had a problem with my rear wing deployment and almost lost the car before the chicane. Our pace should be good, and our goal will be to score points tomorrow. »

Pedro de la Rosa – 17th & 17th

« Yesterday, I didn’t expect to sit in a race car, and this morning, I didn’t hope for much in qualifying. It’s not easy to get familiar with the car and the new buttons in such a short time. Of course, the accident I had this morning didn’t help either. I lost the car and, with it, a bit of confidence. I’m very happy that the team was able to fix it, and I want to thank them. In any case, each time I got in the car, it got better and better. I’m quite pleased with how qualifying went, and I’m optimistic for the race. The Sauber C30 is always stronger in the race than in qualifying. I want to bring points to the team, and that’s why I’m here. »

Peter Sauber

« First of all, I would like to thank the mechanics who had a lot of work this weekend and did a fantastic job to have both cars ready for qualifying. Kamui finished the session in 13th position, exactly the same place as in Monaco from where he left with a great result. Considering the fact that Pedro only learned at 1 PM yesterday that he would be participating in the race this weekend, he did an excellent job qualifying in Q2. Congratulations! »
