Plagued by problems during the race, Jarno Trulli could only secure the last place when Heikki Kovalainen was forced to retire. The surviving Lotus finished behind the HRT and Virgin cars.

Jarno Trulli – 17th

« It was a very eventful race. Everything started well but I struggled all afternoon with the brakes and even though I was able to bring them up to temperature, I think they « froze » after the first safety car and I couldn’t get them back up to temperature. After the race resumed, I had the same problem with the brakes but as the track dried, they started to come back and I was able to start battling with my direct competitors. Unfortunately, after the pit stop for slick tires, something was moving in my cockpit so I returned to the pits once again for the team to take a closer look. They couldn’t solve the problem so I went back on track and could only bring the car to the finish ».

Heikki Kovalainen – Retirement

« Unfortunately, my race ended due to a driveshaft problem. When we restarted, I had this problem immediately and had to retire, which is obviously a disappointing end to this weekend. I hope we have better luck in Valencia ».

Tony Fernandes

« Honestly, it was a somewhat disappointing day for us. We had a problem at the first pit stop and therefore struggled to get back into the race after that, in a GP that could have given us some interesting opportunities. It is important that we analyze this as another part of our development and we must learn from this experience. Despite everything, there are a number of positives to take away: our performance in qualifying was excellent and Jarno had a great race this afternoon, and throughout the weekend. We will now head to Valencia where I am sure we will forget this race and continue to move forward.
