After achieving the best result since entering F1 in 2010, with the 13th place secured by Italian Vitantonio Liuzzi at the Canadian Grand Prix, the Hispania Racing Team is showing ambition.

« There are still many races left this season. We want to improve our results and achieve the goal of finishing 10th in the constructors’ championship » declared Colin Kolles on the team’s website. By finishing in 13th place on Sunday, HRT matched Team Lotus’s best result this season, although they failed to surpass the Malaysian team who achieved this performance twice. HRT is in 11th place in the constructors’ standings and is now ahead of Marussia Virgin.

Besides the team’s good results, Colin Kolles was questioned about the future. Clearly, he is quite optimistic: “We will very soon focus on the 2012 car.” This statement suggests a calmer winter compared to the previous two pre-seasons, marked by uncertainties and delays that notably caused both cars to miss the Australian Grand Prix at the start of the 2011 season due to a lack of running during private testing.

At the beginning of April, Hispania Racing Team had reached an agreement with Mercedes GP for the use of one of the two wind tunnels at the Brackley factory in England, which had been scarcely used since the implementation of the Resource Restriction Agreement by the Formula One Team Association. Kolles indicates that it will be used in July to prepare for the F1 2012 season.
