Saturday: Disappointing qualifications for Sauber
Still plagued by tire temperature issues, the Sauber drivers experienced a difficult qualifying session but are counting on their good race pace.

Kamui Kobayashi – 14th
« It’s quite tricky. In general, our car is improving and I’m still confident for the race. We’ve shown that we’re more competitive in race conditions. Once again, I had trouble getting the tires up to temperature and once I found grip, the front tires overheated. In the future, we’ll try to find a solution to this, but for tomorrow I’ll aim for points like in the previous races ».
Sergio Pérez – 16th
« With the rise in temperature, I was hoping to be a few tenths faster, but it proved not to be that simple. We did a few more laps to get the tires in condition, but it also has drawbacks. However, I think it will be possible to score points tomorrow, and that’s my goal. »
James Key
It’s a disappointing session today. We made progress overnight, and the drivers were quite satisfied with the car this morning, but we know we still need to improve in qualifying. Q1 seemed good; Sergio was very competitive on his lap, and we wanted to build on that in Q2. But ultimately, it didn’t happen. We were unable to extract the maximum from the car. It’s really a shame; it’s not where we wanted to be, and we must now focus on race strategy to try to recover after this difficult qualifying.
