Sunday: Satisfaction in the Virgin camp

Although the ranking is unflattering, the British team is relatively satisfied with its race marked by a good start from Timo Glock and the recovery of Jerome d'Ambrosio during the race, after a qualification that saw an HRT come between the Belgian and his teammate.

Timo Glock – 21st

« It’s a rather positive weekend for us, I think. Everything went well, and I didn’t have any real problems over these three days. In the race, I had a very good first lap as I overtook both Lotuses and a Toro Rosso, even though it passed me again right after in the straight. As soon as the DRS was activated, I couldn’t hold back Heikki and Jarno behind me, and after that, I just focused on my own race.

I was able to drive at a good race pace quite easily, although at the end we had a small fuel consumption issue and I had to save fuel. But, overall, I am very happy with this weekend and I kept my lap record here.

It’s a bit of a shame to have a good race and only finish 21st, in the same position as on the grid, but since no one had technical problems or incidents on the first lap, it’s all we can do.

Jerome d’Ambrosio – 22nd

« I am obviously happier with my race today than with my qualifying yesterday. Even though I lost quite a bit of time in my first stint when I was stuck behind Liuzzi, I had a good second stint and it was a great experience for me. The main thing is to improve my performance on Saturday but, overall, I am happy with my weekend and to finish the race once again. »

John Booth – Team Principal

« Above all, it is a good result with both our cars finishing and Jerome improving his qualifying position by overtaking Liuzzi on the track.

The positive side is that we seem to have been closer to our direct rivals in front of us, even though it’s a bit disappointing to finish 21st and 22nd. We adopted the right strategy, even if we could have stopped Jerome a bit earlier in his first stint, but unfortunately, Timo was stopping at that time.

We are now going to the factory for a slightly longer period than usual, on the occasion of our home race at Silverstone. We are all very excited about working in the new paddock and we hope to maintain the momentum in the upcoming races.
