The 1992 world champion will therefore be the assistant commissioner with the FIA for the British round starting this Friday.

Verbose in his comments regarding the events of this season (KERS, DRS, Hamilton’s driving, etc…), Nigel Mansell will be the eighth driver called since the beginning of the year.

He will take over from Heinz-Harald Frentzen who officiated in Europe, Emerson Fittipaldi in Canada, Allan McNish in Monaco, Mark Blundell in Spain, Derek Warwick in Turkey, Emanuele Pirro in China and Malaysia (he was the only one to be called upon twice), and Johnny Herbert for the inaugural round in Australia.

This list features a majority of British drivers, so it was almost logical that one of the most worthy English representatives of this sport would officiate at his national Grand Prix.
